Reasons Why Christians Should Be Excited About AI & Robotics

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics is making waves across various industries around the globe. While I find this development thrilling, I understand that many individuals have concerns regarding the future of AI and its potential effects on humanity.

In this article, I explore the potential impact of AI and robotics on how they may influence our relationship with God, and their role in our Christian experience.

With Elon Musk unveiling the Optimus 3 robot in October 2024, I started to reflect on how these robotic devices. They are capable of performing human tasks and thinking like us, would intersect with my Christian experience. Continue reading as I share my thoughts on this intriguing subject.

1. Information Vs. Revelation

I believe we are embarking on a new era, one that will reveal an aspect of humanity that has never been prominent before.

The internet age has significantly accelerated the spread of the word of God across the globe. The name of Jesus Christ has reached cultures and nations that previously had no awareness of Him or the Good News.

From a Christian perspective, with AI, locating information today, whether it’s a Bible verse or a biblical story, has become incredibly fast and straightforward. However, what is lacking is the deeper revelation concealed within the Scriptures.

My view is this:

The deep wisdom of God cannot be revealed through artificial methods. Just as all creations have their boundaries, I believe this holds true for AI as well. While AI can provide information, it is incapable of offering true revelation.

2. How Jesus Demonstrated The Difference In Information And Revelation

In Matthew 16:13, Jesus posed this question to his disciples: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” The disciples’ response revealed that there was much speculation and various opinions about his identity. Similarly, AI offers a wealth of information, which may include both accurate facts and speculative data.

Yet, when Jesus posed the same question to his disciples, Peter confidently replied, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus’ response to Peter’s affirmation was: “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.” Through divine wisdom, God revealed to Peter that Jesus is indeed the Son of God.

While AI and robotics learn from human beings, revelations only come from God and are deposited into the human spirit. For God reveals things to us by His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10).

No AI can uncover the hidden wisdom of God for God said, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence if the intelligent.”

This means the intelligence offered by AI is sub par compared to the wisdom that God offers, for God provides deep revelations and truths by His Spirit. And we, humans, have the Spirit of God in us, guiding us in all wisdom and truth (John 16:13).

3. The Rarity Of Divine Wisdom

As information becomes increasingly accessible, true divine wisdom will emerge as a rare treasure as AI and Robotics become ubiquitous. Much like Paul, who possessed knowledge of the Scriptures. However, he lacked the revelation from God necessary to grasp the spiritual significance of the Word.

Only after His encounter with Jesus did Paul begin to understand the Scriptures. Therefore divine wisdom is only found Jesus, “God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself” (1 Corinthians 1:20).

Dear reader, this verse highlights that divine wisdom is only found when we are united with Jesus Christ. He alone is able to reveal God’s mysteries, no AI tool will ever achieve this.

Galatians 1:12 NLT

I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:12).

Refer to the story about the Walk to Emmaus in Luke 24:13-32 regarding two disciples who obliviously walked with Jesus. But soon as Jesus explained the Scriptures to them, they realized the man they were conversing with was in fact Jesus.

It was only after they had a personal encounter with Jesus that their spiritual eyes were opened to recognize the man they were in discussion with was indeed Jesus, the Son of God (Luke 24:31). Therefore the divine wisdom, that we all seek, knowingly or unknowingly, is found in Christ, robotics and AI will never fulfill this human need.

4. AI & Robotics Will Reveal That Human Beings Are Gods

My view is AI and robotics may assume the routine physical tasks and decision-making responsibilities currently handled by humans, allowing the spiritual and divine aspects of humanity to shine through more clearly. As Psalm 82:6 states, “You are gods, children of the Most High.”

This implies that we are created in the image of God— truly divine and spiritual. I believe that robots will highlight and showcase our humanity as unique, remarkable, and handcrafted by God, rather than diminish it.

So many of us are distracted and occupied by things such as what to wear, what to eat. If Robots would do this on our behalf, this gives us more ample time to seek the Kingdom of God and pursue His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). This also provides us with more time to delight in God’s mighty works, praise and honor Him.

David captured this so beautifully:

Psalm 27:4 NLT

The one thing I ask the LORD – the thing I seek most – is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in His Temple.

When we engage in godly activities such as prayer, fasting and meditating on God’s word, our divine nature is revealed and becomes more pronounced. This was evidenced at the Mount of Transfiguration when Jesus’ face shone like the sun and his clothes became dazzling white while he prayed (Luke 9:29).

5. AI Cannot Praise God

Psalm 150:6 states, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” This encompasses all of God’s creations as described in Genesis, including you, me, and everyone else. Robotics and AI, however, lack breath; they are human-made devices and technologies designed to help humanity complete tasks faster, replicate tasks and more, for our benefit. Without a spirit, they are unable to praise God, who is Spirit (John 4:24).

Recognize that a human being is composed of the mind, body, and spirit. In contrast, a robot possesses an artificially intelligent mind that makes decisions and a body to carry out those decisions.

The spiritual essence of humanity originates from God and cannot be manufactured in a laboratory; this is what ensures our individuality. We are divine beings, infused with the Spirit of God, destined to bring honor to His name.

6. AI & Robotics Are Inventions Made To Serve Humanity

To those who may think that robots will take over the world, understand that this is utterly impossible. Jesus has given us authority to allow for things to happen and not to happen here on earth. Through the Holy Spirit we’ve been filled with power from heaven (Luke 24:49). And this power can change anything.

See AI and robotics as any other invention, all inventions always change the dynamic of our societies, and like every invention, there will be pros and cons. But somehow with each invention, humanity still emerges superior, because we’ve been given dominion to rule over the earth and subdue it in the name of Jesus Christ. The heavens belong to the LORD, but He has given the earth to all humanity (Psalm 115:16).

AI

Recognize that everything originates from God, is sustained by His power, and is meant to bring Him glory. If AI and robotics do not serve to glorify God, rest assured that they will not be sustainable.

I have personally experienced the advantages of AI in my everyday activities. When preparing the blog articles on this site, I can quickly access scriptural references. This allows me to explore related content from other authors, fostering deeper relationships and connections among fellow believers in Christ.

7. Final Remarks On AI & Robotics

AI and Robotics is proof that intelligence can be taught, but divine wisdom and revelations comes from God. Wisdom is one of the seven-fold Spirits of God, this means it is a divine attribute that comes from God alone.

Daniel 2:20 NLT

Praise the name of God forever and ever, for He has all wisdom and power.

While the world has entered unchartered territories with the use of AI and robotics, I believe not only will it serve us, but it’ll bring out the godly and spiritual nature of humanity as a specie made in the very image of God.

Ultimately, this will bring God all the glory! As a believer, I find this to be a thrilling era, where we are able to connect deeper with God and foster profound relationship with Him that result in His glorification.
