The resurrection of Christ Jesus

Here Are 3 Great and Profound Impacts of The Resurrection in The Believer’s Life

It’s resurrection Sunday, and many believers in Christ are celebrating this momentous event in the history of humanity that occurred in the life of Jesus. In this article we unpack the impact of the resurrection in the believer’s life.

Jesus died on the cross, and resurrected on the third day. He appeared for about 40 days to his disciples and 500 other people (1 Corinthians 15:6). Thereafter, he ascended to heaven, and the bible record that he is seated at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:12).

1. The Resurrection of Christ

The resurrection of Christ is a demonstration of the mighty power of God. When crucified on the cross, he took upon himself all the sins of the world.

Jesus then died and descended to hades because of all the sins mankind casted upon him. However, he rose to life after 3 days – God rose him up to life by the power of His Spirit.

This occurrence has great and profound impacts in a believer’s life, let’s uncover three main elements.

1.1 The Mighty Power Of God Demonstrated In the Resurrection

The Spirit of God is revealed throughout Scripture as being capable of great and mighty works. God performs great signs and wonders, that showcase the power of His Spirit. The resurrection was the highest display of the power of the Spirit of God.

“Christ rose from the dead”, is a power-loaded statement. The Spirit God literally pulled him out from Hades, where there was Satan and all his demons, back to life.

Zechariah 4:6 NIV

“So, he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.”

Christ raised from the dead by the Spirit of God reveals that there is no other spirit in the entire universe greater than the Spirit of God. Demonic forces in hell could not hold Jesus down when the Spirit of God took him out of hell.

The power of the Spirit of God also implies that Jesus has authority over all things including devils, demons, unclean spirits and more. This is confirmed in John 13:3 which reads, “Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God.”

The story does not end there. Jesus has given the believers this authority over the enemy, since we are united with him. The power of the enemy is eternally subjected to and under the authority of Jesus Christ, and this authority has been given to believers now that we are united with Christ (Colossians 2:10).

Luke 10:19 NLT

“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”

Additionally, the Spirit of God lives within us. When we exercise the authority given to us by Christ, it is actuated by the Spirit of God in us. The Spirit of God is the force that births the will of God over our lives.

Romans 8:11 NLT

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.”

This is one of the profound premise of the resurrection that empowers me to live confidently. I know that Jesus Christ has given me authority and power, through the Spirit, over the enemy.

No plan of the kingdom of darkness will ever prevail in my life. I exercise my authority that I have been given by my Lord Jesus Christ to bring my life to comply with the will of God.

Ephesians 3:20 NLT

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

Peter and John used the authority of the Name, Jesus Christ, to heal a man born blind. This was just after Pentecost, where the Holy Spirit came upon them.

They exercised their authority using a bold declaration: I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk (Acts 3:6). The powerful Spirit of God working through Peter and John empowered the lame man to walk.

1.2 Our Lord Jesus Christ Is Alive

The resurrection of Christ is proof that we serve a living God. Jesus is alive! While others worship idols, other gods or the dead, we—on the other hand—serve a living and powerful God who died and rose again.

No one has ever died and rose again eternally except Jesus Christ. He is alive and seated at the right hand of the Father.

1 Peter 3:22 NLT

“Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority.”

For the believer, this truth means that we can have a relationship with Jesus, he is able to lead and guide us in all facets of life. Additionally, he provides bespoke solutions and guidance to anything we may have qualms about.

This is contrary to all other beliefs and religions of this world, Christianity places an emphasis on having a relationship with God – seeking the Kingdom. Other religions only provide a set of rules and precepts on how to conduct oneself in life, but the relationship component is non-existent because all their “martyrs” are dead and remain so.

But glory be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who has brought us to a place of underserved privilege – in the full presence of our heavenly Father (Romans 5:2).

The curtain has been torn into two from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51). We can freely and boldly enter God’s dwelling place, the Holy of Holies – worshiping, praising and delighting in His glorious presence.

What great and marvelous truth this is! We have full, round the clock, eternal access to the presence of the Father. He is not contained in a brick and mortar building, He is in us through the presence of the Holy Spirit that dwells within. Glory be to God!

1.3 The Resurrection Reveals The Faithfulness Of God

Isaiah the prophet had foretold that Jesus would be crucified for our sins in the 53rd chapter of the book of Isaiah. This prophecy was indeed fulfilled 2000 years ago when Jesus was hung on the cross.

The number of years between Prophet Isaiah and Jesus Christ is estimated to be 700 years. This shows that God is not a man that he should lie, but is faithful to His word.

Psalm 16:10 NLT

“For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.”

God is faithful, and thus we can entirely surrender our lives to Him. He promises that those who believe in Christ will never die by have everlasting life (John 3:16).

The future of a believer is certain, we have eternal life. This means, our lives are secured in Christ Jesus, we will never be separated from the life and presence of God, both now here on earth and in the life to come.

While many religions of this world are unclear about what happens after death, we as Christ believers know that to die is to be with our Lord (Philippians 1: 21-23). Death for a believer is a transformation process, it is not a cessation of life, because we have eternal life.
