To be in christ

The Eye-Opening Truth About Being In Christ

When you experience being born again, something extraordinary transforms in your life. The Bible states in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” The Scripture emphasizes that all things—not just some or a fraction—become new.

In this article, I will highlight some of the most significant aspects that come to fruition when one is in Christ. While it’s impossible to fully capture the essence of everything that has changed, this article outlines seven key transformations that occur when in Christ. Embracing these truths will lead you to a life filled with victory, dominion, blessings, glory, and much more.

1. What Does It Mean To Be In Christ?

To be in Christ represents a profound spiritual reality where one’s life is encompassed within Him. Imagine a Russian doll snugly placed inside a larger doll; that imagery reflects what it means to be in Christ.

It’s also akin to residing within a bubble, with Christ and His Kingdom forming that protective enclosure. Within this bubble, specific laws and principles govern the environment, creating an atmosphere distinct from the outside world. So let’s look into some of the truths that underpin being in Christ.

1.1 The Power In Christ Jesus

When you are in Christ, you possess a power that ensures your triumph. In times of life’s challenges, the Bible teaches us to resist the devil, and he will flee (James 4:7). To resist means firmly standing in your identity in Christ.

Jesus stated in Acts 1:8, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” This Holy Spirit power was bestowed upon you the moment you were born again.

To activate this miraculous power in your life, engage with it through the word, prayer, meditation, and fasting. It is the same power that rose Jesus from the dead, so surely, if it is able to go into the depths of hell, such potent power is able to rescue us in any of life’s challenges

Romans 8:11 NLT

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

1.2 The Glory Of God Is Upon You

Glory embodies the beauty, splendor, magnificence, and radiance of God. Being in Christ means we share in God’s glory. As stated in John 17:22, Jesus prayed, “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are.”

The glory of being in Christ

Paul further explains that God has chosen and prepared us to be in Christ so that His glory may be evident in your lives.

Romans 8:17 NLT

And since we are His children, we are his Heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

The life of a believer should be filled with vibrancy, excellence, radiance, and all things related to God’s glory. We are called to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus (2 Thessalonians 2:14).

1.3 Blessings Abound In Christ

Being in Christ automatically comes with blessings. Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:3, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Understanding that God desires to bless us spiritually is essential. These blessings extend beyond mere material possessions; they encompass a wide range of spiritual gifts. While these blessings may be intangible, they can also manifest in physical ways. Spiritual blessings include, but are not limited to:

  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Holiness
  • Love
  • Hope
  • Discernment
  • Purity of heart
  • Faith
  • And more.

1.4 The Honor And Privilege Of Being In Christ

Christ is currently seated at the highest place of honor, at God’s right hand (1 Peter 3:22). This signifies that, through our union with Christ, we are in the presence of the Father. How incredible is that? God is not distant or inaccessible; we are with Him in Christ.

What an immense privilege and honor it is to be in the company of God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and to have fellowship with Him. Despite our frailty and imperfections, the spiritual truth is that being in Christ means being seated beside the Father.

1.5 Riches In Christ

In Philippians 4:19, Paul expresses his thankfulness, stating, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

In Christ, we receive abundant riches. Even in times of physical scarcity, Paul found contentment because he was filled with Christ. Conversely, when he had an abundance of material goods, he remained grateful. Being in Christ ensures that all your needs—both physical and spiritual—are fulfilled.

God addresses our spiritual needs, such as a joyful heart and a healthy body, so our lives are not dictated by external circumstances or material possessions. What is the value of a healthy body if the spirit is broken? And how meaningful are luxurious clothes if the body is unwell? God’s riches far surpass material wealth.

1.6 Strength Through Christ

Being in Christ assures us of strength to confront any life’s challenges. But in Christ, Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

A believer’s life is not one of cowardice, but one that takes bold steps of faith, we run and never faint, for in Christ we have the strength.

We don’t retreat, we stand firm in Christ, while the faint turn back (Proverbs 24:10).

1.7 Access To The Wisdom Of God

Christ is the wisdom of God and the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). To be in Him is to gain access to divine wisdom and deep understanding.

Solomon stated, in Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.” It is through our connection with Christ that we can unravel the mysteries and secrets of God.

Through the word of God, we access the divine laws, principles, instructions and precepts of God. And the power of God through the Holy Spirit reveal deep hidden truths and mysteries of God contained in His word.

2. Final Remarks

Being in Christ is truly transformative; everything you ever need is found simply through your relationship with Him. Nothing you desire can be fulfilled outside of Him.

It is through our union with Christ that we are deemed worthy of receiving all seven spiritual blessings. Always remember this spiritual truth: you are in Christ, and therefore, you lack nothing at all.

2 Peter 1:3 NLT

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
