God's love

This Is The Most Important Thing You Should Know About God’s Love

Love is a vast concept and is one of the most frequently mentioned words in the Bible. While the subject of God’s love is extensive, this article will highlight the most essential attribute you should know about it.

My hope is that this profound insight, grounded in scripture, will resonate deeply within your heart, mind, and soul as you navigate your journey through life. I believe that once it takes root, it will cultivate divine boldness and courage in every aspect of your life.

1. God’s Love

There are many ways in which God’s love is portrayed. But the one scripture that illuminates the nature of God’s love is found in John’s first epistle

1 John 4:18 NIV

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

God’s love is completely void of fear. The first time in Scripture where fear emanates, is after Adam and Eve sinned. When God asked where Adam was, his response, in Genesis 3:10, was, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”

Adam’s sinful act evoked the fear of being punished by God for violating His command. When he and Eve were ultimately expelled from the garden, this fear intensified, as they now existed outside of God’s presence, distanced from His eternal love.

The Bible states that “God is love” (1 John 4:8). Therefore, to be distanced from God is to be distanced from His love. When separated from His presence, the human soul becomes susceptible to the enemy’s attacks, creating at atmosphere of fear.

2. The Important Attribute About God’s Love

When Jesus died on the cross, he restored us back into the presence of God by forgiving our sins, so that we may no longer live in fear.

The main important attribute about God’s love is explained in Jude’s letter. He begins the letter by highlighting that God’s love ensures our safety. James 1:1 reads, “I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.” H

He further elaborates on God’s love.

Jude 1:20 NLT

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

Here he outlines ways to keep ourselves in Gods love:

  • By building and strengthening our faith
  • By praying in the Spirit
  • And by patience in our Lord’s mercies.

These actions help us remain in God’s love, which inherently offers safety. Therefore, the primary characteristic of God’s love is indeed safety. In contrast, fear—rooted in sin—does not provide any sense of security, only a perpetual anxiety of potential punishment.

3. The Love Of God Brings Safety

Although the phrase “God loves us” may seem clichéd, it carries a profound meaning that emphasizes how His love for us ensures our safety.

Psalm 136 emphasizes that “God’s love endures forever.” In this psalm, the author recounts the magnificent deeds of God, including the creation of the heavens and the earth, the plagues sent to chastise Egypt, the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery, and the battles fought against Israel’s enemies.

The psalmist, through this narrative, conveys that God’s love assures our safety. This assurance extends not only throughout our earthly lives but also into eternity. His love is a shield of protection (Psalm 5:12).

Psalm 91 offers a profound insight into the safety that comes from being in the presence of God, which assures us of His love. I invite you to explore the entire chapter, as it elaborates on the protective benefits of dwelling in God’s presence.

Psalm 91:1-2 NLT

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.

4. The Best Demonstration Of God’s Love

In all biblical narrative’s the best display of God’s love is when he resurrected his Son Jesus from the dead. David prophetically wrote about Jesus’ resurrection in the following Psalm:

Psalm 16:9-11 NLT

No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

Dear reader, God’s love for both you and me was revealed through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ resurrection, we are no longer bound by fear or distanced from the Father’s presence. The curtain that once kept us from entering God’s holy presence has been torn away, granting us the privilege to dwell continuously in His presence, where eternal safety is assured.

God's love at the cross

Imagine a child plunging into a pool or facing any peril; a parent’s love drives them to act quickly and rescue the child. This is akin to how God cares for His beloved children—nothing in all of creation can hinder His power from delivering us from any life’s challenge. Because His love has no bounds, it is far too deep, high and wide (Ephesians 3:18).

In my personal journey, the certainty of God’s love has been a source of confidence during life’s trials. I remain hopeful that His love will shield me from any difficulties that may come my way. The resurrection of Christ serves as my anchor, affirming that God’s love can lift me from any deep challenge, enabling me to emerge victorious.

5. Final Remarks

Dear reader, in the presence of God are like a new born child in the safe hands of the mother. The child is unafraid, but rests in the their presence.

Though Christ experienced a sense of abandonment on the cross, this feeling was fleeting, as the power of God raised him from the depths and back to life. Dear reader, allow this profound truth to resonate deeply within your heart: God loves you. He will protect you; no flames will engulf you, and no waters will overwhelm you. The assurance of His love is unwavering and eternal.

Paul wrote in his letter to the Roman church:

Romans 8:38-39 NLT

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In this passage, Paul reassures us that God’s love has the power to lift us away from worries, fears, sins, demons, the heavens, and all else, guiding us into the safety of His presence. There is no circumstance that is far enough for the power of God to reach out to and bring us to Himself.

The same reason he raised Christ from the dead, is the same reason he’ll bring us from any adverse situation and the reason is because He loves us. His love directs where his power goes, If I’m in danger, His love for me directs His power to lift me out of the danger.

I truly hope this article has blessed you today, and always remember, GOD LOVES YOU!
